Homemade Windex Review

Good morning! We have had the flu for the past week. :( It all started with Miss 6. Then it passed to Daddy, then Sissy, and finally to me. Well, after a week of coughing and just general blah feeling, I knew I had to do some cleaning. I'd been neglecting the deep cleaning this week. The girls like to play in the bathroom and sometimes this means toothpaste, soaps, and shampoos mysteriously jump out of their containers and all over the mirror and sink. Unfortunately, I didn't have any Windex and really did not want to go out to the store to buy some.

So I checked Pinterest and came across The Frugal Girls Homemade Glass Cleaner with Vinegar recipe.

The recipe is 1 cup water, 1/4 cup White Vinegar, and 2-3 drops of Dawn Dish Soap. Mix it all together in a spray bottle.

The mirror was gross (but in a "Mommy I was trying to clean it" way) There were smears of toothpaste, shampoo, hand soap, and what looked like spit? Needless to say, that mirror needed a good scrubbing.

Skeptical at first, I decided try this vinegar water mix. I sprayed it on and left it alone for about 30 seconds. Then I grabbed some paper towels and started wiping it off. I was amazed! That 1st coat took off at least 90% of the mess. Yes, it took a bit of elbow grease to get it clean, but I was dealing with dried on toothpaste, shampoo, and hand soap. I sprayed one more time and again left it alone for 30 seconds or so, then wiped again and bam! it was all clean.

So, check out The Frugal Girls homemade window cleaner recipe and tackle those grimy winter windows and toothpaste covered mirrors.

Have a great day!
